Held by What I Couldn’t See
I had just watched the new Spider-Man movie, so I guess my Spidey sense was still on alert.
Outside my sunroom I spotted a single, small leaf that appeared to float mid-air. A slight breeze caused it to sway like it was on a trapeze.
From my desk chair, I couldn’t see what was holding it, but I imagined it was a strong strand of spiderweb that had been strategically spun by a clever spider hiding somewhere in the limbs of a large tree overhead.
grabbed my phone and headed outside to investigate, getting as close as I dared. I really don’t like spiders, but I admire their intricate work.
I studied the leaf through the lens of my phone camera. I couldn’t see the spider anywhere. Still, its work was obvious. I could see that something was holding the leaf, but I couldn’t see what it was.
Then it dawns on me.
Sometimes a falling leaf is more than just a leaf.
You: This leaf is an illustration of my life. I can’t see what God is doing.
Me: You can trust God. He is holding you.
You might not see Him, but that doesn’t mean He is absent. Even when the wind blows and causes you to feel unsteady, God still cares. And sometimes, when you have no strength left, He carries you.
