Each of us need Jesus

Do you believe that you are a good person or a bad person? I can morph into both in one day - in one hour!

Either way, each of us need Jesus! All. The. Time.

Evangelist and author David Jeremiah writes, "No one is too bad to be saved, any more than any one is too good to need a Savior. God says to each of us, 'Behold, now is the day of salvation.'" 2 Cor. 6:2

Being good or bad won’t matter when we stand face to face with Jesus after our life on this earth is done. What will matter is our relationship with Him.

Check yourself.

When is the last time you talked with him, walked with him, listened to him, obeyed him, called him your own?

Have you ever done these things?

Good or bad, we are all sinners, saved and given eternal life only by the grace of God.

I won’t go into detail but trust me, my former self was UGLY!

U - ungrateful

G - godless

L - lost

Y - yellow-bellied, fearful.

Today I can testify that after (1) wholeheartedly accepting Jesus as my Savior, and (2) earnestly applying his ways to my life, I started to change.

I moved out of the “good life” and into the God life. I went from being a hard-hearted person to striving for holiness.

I became grateful for his goodness, mercy and grace, I wanted to be like him. I desired to love others deeper. To forgive others quicker. To encourage the discouraged more often. In times of trouble I began turning to God for answers instead of the world.

How does this kind of change happen?

My two choices enabled me to resemble him. I began to talk like him, act like him; much like a child who grows into the spitting image of his mom or dad and chooses to model their character.

Certainly, for a child of God there are growing pains. In order for a relationship with the Holy Father to thrive it must be nurtured.

We must:

~ Believe that God’s Word is the inspired, inerrant, infallible and living word, and that it is our guide for life in this life. 2 Peter 1:20,21; 2 Timothy 3:16

~ Feed our souls the meat of God’s Word. (Devour scripture in church and at home daily.) Matthew 4:4

~ Practice good, two-way communication. (Pray - listen more than talk) Matthew 6:7; Proverbs 18:13

~ Love God. (Generously, sacrificially) Romans 12:1

~ Expect triumphs and trials. (Joy and sadness) John 16:33

~ Confess wrongdoing. (Don’t be too proud to admit you’re wrong) Romans 3:23

~ Receive God’s grace and extend it to others. (God’s grace to us is undeserved, model the Master.) Ephesians 2:8-9; Colossians 3:13

A relationship with God gives you access His amazing power. According to the Bible, here’s a list of just some of that power:

Your vision improves; By medical standards you might not have 20/20 vision, but you will see things more clearly, glasses or contacts are unnecessary!

When you ask God for it, you’ll gain wisdom. You will hear and understand things that you never heard and understood before.

Doors will be flung open wide for you - doors that were previously sealed shut. Mercifully, He will shut doors to keep you from places you should not go.

You have His promises and can trust them.

You'll never have to walk alone, under any circumstance.

He will protect you.

He'll listen to you, walk and talk with you.

He will feel what you feel, weep when you weep.

Pray to God, the Father, when you don’t have the words to pray.

He'll carry you when necessary.

He will make your burden light.

He'll guide you in all things if you let him.

He will love you unconditionally and forgive you extravagantly. You will have eternal life beyond the grave.

Jesus has been my Savior since I was 17. My life is a tapestry of His goodness, faithfulness, forgiveness, love, mercy and grace.

At my best I need Him.

I’ve had some mountaintop experiences in my spiritual journey. He is the reason why I was on the mountain in the first place!

At my worst I need Him.

The messes in my past are too many to count. I left God out of many decisions and made a terrible mess of things. Looking back, I can see that God graciously covered me with his mercy and grace.

Because I’m human I’ll probably find myself in the middle of future messes. I’ll need Him then, too.

It still confounds me that He loves me in spite of myself!

How freeing it is to know there is nothing I can do to lose God’s love and forgiveness. No! I can’t lose my salvation.

At the moment I said ‘yes’ to Jesus, God’s son, and called Jesus my Savior, God sealed me (Ephesians 1:13-14) with his Holy Spirit. I’m a permanent part of the family of God! He loves me and will never abandon me!

If you don't have a relationship with Jesus, no matter your character or circumstance, now is the right time to surrender your life to Him, receive salvation through Jesus Christ.

If you "confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9.

Confess your sin, turn from it. Believe in Jesus, be saved.

It’s that simple.

Please don't take for granted that "God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Don't read this and think, "I'll do this someday."

Join me now in believing in a Savior who loves sacrificially, unconditionally and offers unending grace.

Message me and I'll share more about Jesus with you. There's no judgment here. But, friend there is an urgency. "God has numbered our days." Psalm 90:10, 11. We are not promised tomorrow. An Urgent Message!
